Between 2004 and 2007, Learning@Europe involved approximately 6000 students and 345 teachers from over 180 high schools in 18 European countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom. Over the past 3 years, the countries with the largest proportion of participants have been Italy, Poland and Spain.
Students are aged between 14 and 19, with an even distribution between the 14-16 and the 17-19 age groups. The number of girls is slightly higher than the boy’s.
Teachers from every subject area have been involved, with teachers of English as a second language gradually taking over History teachers: in L@E 2006-07, 57% of teachers taught English, 35% were Humanities teachers and 15% taught Technologies.
